A loose casual hairstyle can look great, but so many women have trouble making their hair look effortless. The loose side braid stays cool, stays fun and will not fall apart. You can create this lived in look on dry or wet hair, but dry hair works best. This is such an easy look, if you don’t have a lot of time to style your hair and want to look great Instructions Things you'll want to grab:
2. Comb the product through the hair gently. 3. Pull any bangs or face framing pieces of hair to the front with the comb, and part that hair to the side. The front face-framing sections should not be wider than 3 inches. Or it will just look like those sections have fallen out. 4. Toss the hair onto one side and separate into three sections. Braid, crossing each outside piece alternately over the middle piece and under to the other side, from the nape of the neck to the ends. If you want a looser finish, make sure to overlap the hair sections gently without much tension. 5. Secure the ends with a ponytail holder. Don't worry about securing the base too tightly; the braid will not come as loose because of the texturizer spray. Once you secure the bottom you can gently pull the braid with your fingers wherever you’d like to create a looser finish. Sometimes this looks more bohemian and softer than a tight braid. 6. Place a headband on the hair just behind the face-framing pieces or bangs for a nice finish. If the bangs get mussed while doing this, just finger-comb them back into place. 7. Use bobby pins to pin down any loose hair on the opposite side of the ponytail. Pin the pieces to the nape to keep them out of the way. Don't pin too many pieces since the look must remain somewhat loose and casual. 8. Now use a small amount of shine spray on the braid starting far away from the ends upwards. Or use a small amount of serum heated in the palms of your hands on the ends to create a smoother look instead. ![]() Oh that Kate Moss, how is it that she can always take the most basic things and transform them into her own so effortlessly? It doesn't matter what she wears I hate to admit it but she is a style "Icon" and Dior really did choose the perfect Muse for this lipstick launch. I can't wait to try it! The colour is sheer but applies enough shine and colour to make you feel that you have a polished pretty lipstick actually on. Her nail colour is divine too! Oh how fun it must of been shooting this commercial in Paris with all those gorgeous beauty products, clothes and accessories. Dior Addict Lipstick + Kate Moss = Perfect Match Is it really possible that we might be able to beat that pesky static after all? Can those annoying flyaways that we get from constant hat wearing and dry winter weather, now be tamed forever with John Frieda's new product? Shefinds.com fills us in on their latest hottest product to help us tame our tresses. What a neat invention!
Best Beauty News Ever: There’s A New Wand That Tames Your Hat Hair Her hair looks pretty now, but wait ’til she takes that hat off. This winter, I made a resolution to actually keep warm, which means wearing hats, gloves and scarves–but I didn’t factor in the amount of static that would come along with bundling up. After 30 minutes of wielding my wavy hair with a blowdrying, those annoying little flyaways that accumulate when I take my hat off really irk me. Well not anymore. Today, I came into work to find John Frieda read my mind: they sent me some products for “overworked” hair, and this little wand that I don’t know how I lived without. John Frieda’s Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer looks just like a tube of mascara (same wand and everything) bathed in Incha Inchi oil. Keep it in your bag and just brush flyaways–they smooth those annoying little hairs that fly all over the place down immediately, and it costs less than a fancy-schmancy mascara, at just $9.99. Well worth it, in my book. Now you can indulge in this year’s hottest hat trend: the wool floppy hat. Enjoy! ![]() Here was an interesting article by Gail Lewis on Celebrity Makeup Artist Marisol Garcia and her thoughts on Fashion Week's latest looks for Autumn and Winter 2011. It is always great to hear what other artists think about upcoming trends and how they can relate to everyday fashion for lovers of style. I thought this was a very informative and insightful read. I would love to hear your thoughts on what were your favorite looks and designers from the recent Fashion Week show! Marisol Garcia’s Favorite Makeup Looks From Fashion Week AW11 February 26, 2011 By Gail Lewis Meet Marisol Garcia. Classic, contemporary and cutting edge makeup artist Marisol Garcia has been a professional makeup artist for 13 years representing major cosmetic companies, including 10 years with M.A.C. Cosmetics and 1 year with Benefit Cosmetics as a trainer. You can usually also find her backstage during New York, Milan and Paris fashion week producing the makeup looks for some of the biggest shows. Besides fashion week, Marisol also works on photo shoots, commercials, film, and print (she recently worked with Lady Gaga on the set of the Alejandro music video!) Marisol works along side many of the fashion worlds most sought after makeup artists, such as Pat McGrath, Charlotte Tilbury, Val Garland, Kabuki, and Diane Kendall to name a few. From how to create the perfect wedding look for each client to advanced makeup techniques, application for photos, print and HDTV and of course the wide array of looks at fashion week, whatever the occasion, Marisol always delivers amazing results…so of course we had to approach Marisol to share with you her favorite makeup looks from this past Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Once arriving in NY from sunny California, I could feel the excitement in the air for another season of NYFW Fall 2011. I had the opportunity to work a great deal of shows, big and small. My favorite designers that I was able to work with this season were Jason Wu, Gstar Raw and Tommy Hilfiger. My favorite show overall was Jason Wu. From the feeling of the collection being inspired by lace and feathers to the makeup and hair. The makeup was very detailed. We used smokey blues, greys and black colors pulled out past the end of the eye and added a pop of refined gold glitter just on the center on the eye. We added lots of black mascara on top and bottom lashes while leaving the skin very clean and perfected with minimal makeup. Nothing was used in the brows, keeping them groomed and natural. A very soft pink semi frost lip color was added to the lips and a few dusts of silver highlighter were added to the cheekbones and just above the brow to finish this look. I did see a lot of strong eyes at most shows. Some very strong and smokey and lots of glitter on the eyes too. Very little on the skin using concealer only where needed. The idea was to let the skin be as natural as possible. Very sheer blush if at all and soft pale and sometimes nude lips. I believe that the smokey eye is one of the most classic and easily applied looks. If studied and using the right brushes and products many of these looks could be easily accomplished with a little time and practice. It is also important to always remember to maintain balance. When doing a very heavy eye it is better to leave everything else almost naked. Adding a bit of soft color where needed and leaving the rest to your eyes. Jennifer Lawrence had such a good example of a smokey eye done WELL at the Oscars! This shows how you don't have to use grey or even black shadow if you want to create a smokey eye look on yourself. It is edgy and hot on her because it makes her eyes stand out so much. This look was achieved by using a shimmery copper and gold/brown/espresso palette to accentuate her eye colour and aren't the results HOT? Try things out of your comfort zone next time you want to try to do a smokey eye. That is the lesson for today. Greens and golds, blues and metallic silvers/grey, or even throw in a plum and rose gold and try this look next time you want to create a really sexy look.
Michelle Williams had such a pretty sophisticated look with her glamorous pixie cut and gorgeous makeup. Her Make up Artist perfected that angelic look by applying a nude lip to make her eyes pop. This look is very difficult to pull off because often you can appear washed out with all the nudes and pale colours surrounding her. From the colour of her hair, dress and lips she actually got this look just right.
Doesn't Natalie Portman just look stunning? Her look is so gorgeous and classic. I think she is such a beautiful portrait of natural beauty. Her hair & make up enhance perfectly. What do you think? Please comment and share! Thank you. |
